This exhibit depicts wildlife native to the southeast Kansas area, in a natural setting. The display includes white-tailed deer, grey and red fox, racoons and a variety of birds, waterfowl and reptiles.
The wildlife exhibit includes two creatures which are now rare in our area, but were native to the region in pioneer times.
- A timber rattlesnake discovered near Bone Creek Reservoir in Crawford County.
- A black bear which was native to southeast Kansas more than 100 years ago, and appears to be rebounding in southwest Missouri, near the Kansas state line.
